Background
Gorane Primaris, the fifth planet in the Gorane System, is the only world classified as a Hive world in the Sveslor Subsector. Its classification as a Hive world is borderline however - Gorane Primaris only has one actual hive and two proto-hives (less than 1 billion citizens).
Gorane Primaris is the site of the oldest settlement in the Sveslor Subsector. As with many other Hive worlds, Gorane Primaris has been transformed into a pollution-choked wasteland, with only the spires rising above the low lying permanent smog clouds, which although unbreathable are not technically hazardous.
Due to its location on the intersection of two major warp lanes, Gorane Primaris is the major trading port of the Sveslor Subsector. Surprisingly, Gorane lacks major orbital facilities, forcing all official trade goes through the three hives on the surface, however there is much black market ship-to-ship trade which is unregulated by the Administratum which goes on in deep space.
Gorane Primaris subsists on ice harvested from the system's massive Oort cloud, and food imports from from the Alcinos, Kyppian, and Thoe systems. Gorane Primaris processes much of the food imports into long-life ration packs and foodstuffs for distribution elsewhere in the subsector.
Notable Features
The main hive and capital of Gorane Primaris is Hive Thyratia, a glistening spike of steel and glass rising from the black clouds which hide the planet's surface.
The two secondary proto-hives are Hive Aenid and Hive Mae, both of which technically have not reached Hive status as yet.
The permanent smog clouds are simply unbreathable and impossible to navigate visually, and they are not technically poisonous nor harmful to exposed humans (provided breathing apparatus is worn).
