Thought For the Day: The burden of failure is the most terrible punishment of all.

Lord Inquisitor Trantor, what follows is an update of the progress of your Unremitting Cell of Acolytes in their mission to solve the Sveslor Subsector Crisis.

As noted in the previous report, we apprehended the leader of the local Adeptus Arbites. When questioned as to why he did not defend Imperial rule, he claimed he was outnumbered and was unable to hold the city. To him "Faith is only good if it's backed up with a loaded gun". In anticipation of our visit, he had prepared documents 'proving' his innocence. These 'proved' nothing and we transferred him to our holding cells on the IN Legend of Pyrane.

Unaware of his true nature, the Arbitrator was left unattended for a few short moments. In this time, he transformed to a daemonic form and attacked the cell. In the ensuing skirmish, the daemon was destroyed. To our regret, Magnus was severely injured by stray bullets fired by Lazerus. Lazerus subsequently underwent appropriate penance for the misdeed.

The attempted interrogation of the senior Arbitrator was an abject failure and we have no new information to report. We end our investigation on Saijad content that the flame of heresy has been exterminated but frustrated that we were unable to uncover more of the conspiracy.

Thought For the Day: Nobody is innocent, there are merely varying levels of guilt.

Lord Inquisitor Trantor, what follows is an update of the progress of your Unremitting Cell of Acolytes in their mission to solve the Sveslor Subsector Crisis.

Warp travel times continue to be far shorter than expected. The fleet's astropaths have been unable to find a definite cause but it remains troubling.

An intensive examination of records showed that Varnias Nicodemus, Pike and Hastur Aurelius all members of the Calimacrux Cell, exited the Arbites sector soon after the incident. Hastur was later seen in the hangar bay near the Burnished Hawk which exploded soon after. The whereabouts of the cell are unknown but a kill-on-sight order has been put out for them.

Investigations in the underhive found that, during the incident, a group from the upper-hive appeared. This group 'shot up' a gang and then moved on to another location. Investigation of this location uncovered a shrine to the dark gods. The shrine had not been visited in months, as evidenced by the exceptionally thick layer of dust in the shrine and its surrounds. An annotated map of this structure is attached as Document ξ85 - Location: Gorane Underhive Shrine (Level 85).

Unbeknownst to the cell, the shrine also served as a prison for a daemonic entity. The destruction of some structures (as noted on the attached map) caused the seals on the entity to be released. This destruction was started by Magnus with the assistance of Ishmael. When only one structure remained, the daemon appeared, concealed by a column of dense purple smoke. When Ishmael destroyed the final structure, the smoke disappeared, revealing the daemon.

The malign entity claimed that, in return for freeing it, it would answer our questions and return to the warp. As the daemon was incorporeal, we were unable to otherwise banish it and reluctantly agreed to its deal. The daemon claimed it had been summoned by a cult worshiping 'the one true god'. The intention was that the daemon be set free to cause chaos (and Chaos) in the hive but it had not been employed in that role. The daemon also identified the leader as a powerful female psyker. The daemon offered to grant us gifts but, as loyal servants of the Emperor, we refused. Before it left, it thanked Magnus and Ishmael for 'the favour'.

I am sickened by being forced to treat with a servant of the dark gods but it was unavoidable. It also gave us insight into the cult that is behind the current crisis. The identity of its leader, this powerful female, is as yet unknown but we shall pursue her and her heretical organisation until they are destroyed.
